Reap, a global card and payments technology company building stablecoin-native payments infrastructure that enables financial connectivity and access for businesses worldwide, today announced it will add support for Monad, a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built for scalable financial applications.
Meru, a financial application serving Latin America, will be the first to launch a card program on Reap’s integration, running on Monad. The network’s 600-millisecond finality lets issuers confirm stablecoin balances within the card authorization window, reducing reliance on prefunded accounts and short-term credit that slower blockchains require.
Stablecoin adoption is accelerating, particularly in Latin America. In Mexico, stablecoins accounted for 61% of crypto flows in the year to June 2026, more than US$47 billion (Chainalysis, 2026).
“Card issuers need to build on whichever network fits their users, and our job is to make that possible without them rebuilding their programs from scratch,” said Daren Guo, Co-Founder, Reap. “Integrating with Monad gives programs like Meru a fast settlement layer that works within card authorization timeframes. With an estimated 57.7 million crypto users in the region, Latin America is where we see the strongest demand for spending stablecoins day to day, and we expect more issuers there to follow.”
The integration builds on Reap’s collaboration with Visa, which enables partners to launch stablecoin-linked Visa card programs across more than 100 markets in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Card issuers build on Reap’s infrastructure, which handles authorization, processing, compliance, and operations, and can launch in new markets without assembling that stack themselves. Adding Monad gives these issuers another network option as stablecoin card programs scale.
Amilcar Erazo, Co-Founder & CEO of Meru, said, “Stablecoins have already proven their value in Latin America for saving and moving money across borders. The next step is everyday spending, and that requires infrastructure fast and predictable enough for card payments. Partnering with Reap on the Monad network gives us exactly that, so our users can use their digital dollars as naturally as cash.”
While stablecoin-linked cards allow users to spend digital assets through traditional payment networks, blockchain transaction finality remains a key challenge for card issuers. Card networks require issuers to verify that funds are available within seconds of a transaction being initiated. On blockchains with slower finality, issuers may need to rely on prefunded accounts or short-term credit arrangements to bridge the gap between authorization and onchain confirmation, introducing additional complexity and financial risk.
Monad is designed to address these constraints with its 300-millisecond block times and 600-millisecond deterministic finality, providing the speed needed to support subsecond card authorization workflows. This infrastructure means that card providers can confirm stablecoin balances onchain before approving the payment and still provide a seamless customer experience without needing to pre-approve spend.
“Stablecoin cards are an important step toward making digital assets part of everyday commerce,” said Keone Hon, Co-Founder and GM, Monad Foundation. “Card payments are one of the toughest real-world tests for a blockchain. Reap and Meru choosing to build on the Monad network for that workload is a strong signal that onchain settlement is ready for everyday spending.”
